    Hi,

Just to know, whether iphone prepaid is official unlock?. Meaning can use foreign sim card. Bcoz, just got a news that iphone 3g in singapore is officially unlock out of the box. Just needed to activate in the shop only.

i think the reason why iphone 3g sold in singapore is unlocked because their "NTC" mandated all phones sold in singapore to be open line to promote competition between the telcos (read in from their newspaper when I was there last december).

There's conflicting info on the sim lock status of the Singtel iPhone 3G. However, two facts are known:

    1. Singapore's telecom authority prohibits the sale of sim locked phones.
    2. Singtel does not sell a prepaid kit of the iPhone 3G. Singtel FAQ.

Thus, even if a Singtel iPhone is unlocked by default, the only way to own it in Singapore is applying for a postpaid line. One can assume that Singtel will reject any application filed by a non-Singaporean resident.

Yes, singapore dont have prepaid right now, maybe when starhub and M1 lauching end of this year, there will be available for prepaid. Of course, you must find someone and use their name to buy plan.

Have someone tried foreign sim ?

could somebody please clarify this for me? is the prepaid kit and the post paid kit sold by globe the same?

meaning, can i use my friend's iphone 3g (with monthly plan) and insert my globe prepaid sim card in it? or does the globe prepaid sim card only works with an iphone prepaid kit?

consider it as an Globe lock iphone. You can use any sim you want as long as it is globe.
