Noisy Click Wheel

My iPod mini's wheel makes an unusual clicking sound - even when I'm not really pressing hard on the wheel. When I put my finger on the wheel (the 4th quadrant) and press a bit, I could hear some clicking sound - not the usual clicking sound - sounds something like the noisy keys on a cellphone when texting. Am I making any sense?

Help...
