Default New 4G iPod has undocumented new feature

Someone has discovered a hidden feature in the new iPod: if the headphone jack gets yanked out for one reason or another, the iPod automatically goes into pause mode.

Nice, but I don't know if it'll be very useful. I'd rather it turn itself off, since the iPod is virtually useless anyway if there is no output venue. Instead of holding down a button prior to tucking it away, you could just pull the plug. I know it would cure me of my bad habit of wrapping the earphone cord around the iPod, the jack still inserted, before putting it aside.

    More here.

Heh, found that out yesterday by accident, the first time, I thought it was a fluke, then I tried it again, still happened. One thing that annoys me though, is that when you plug the earphones back in, it remains paused.

Well, the iPod does turn itself off after a few minutes (seconds?) of being on pause, so it amounts to the same thing, just not as immediate as you may want it.

    Default Another one?

I don't know if this was an announce feature... but, I found that my smart playlists on the ipod update automatically.

I have this smart playlist on my iPod that i use to create a 6hr playlist of songs that have never been played.

I was playing that playlist when I switched to a different playlist. When I went back to that playlist, I found that it had updated the songs, removing the songs that i had already played...

    ASTIG!
