Default Need advise on getting an iPhone @ Greenhills [was "Help"]

    Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie and I wanted to seek for your help. I used to collect SE phones and I have been hearing alot of good things about iphone. So I'm going to get an iphone this Sunday. Can anyone advise me if it is safe to get it from Greenhills and what are the things that I need to consider before buying. I believe that the range of a new one (8gig) is from 21k-22k right?

I also don't have a macbook or i book. I'm using a PC (MS Win XP). Is it advisable for me to get an iphone?

Also, I've been reading some of the threads here and there are terms that I don't understand like OTB, Jailbreak, PWNED, iSMS, SMSD etc... I also noticed that applications for iphones is not easy to install/get?

I'm not pretty sure if there is a thread related to my questions but I hope someone will give me an advise.

get a sealed one and unlock it yourself (you can do it with so many guides/tutorials on the net)

no problem with having a PC and an iphone.

OTB (out of the box), iSMS and SMSD are applications, the other terms are easy to find just look for iphone terminology.

some applications are easy to install others need fixes, a lot of fixes found in this forum. if you are at a lost, you can always post a question, i am sure there will be someone who will assist.

it is very difficult to find a sealed iphone in greenhills, if ever you find one the price is very high... i suggest you get one from a philmugger like what i did... (thanks noeltan for a very fast and smooth transaction) they'll help you in unlocking your iphone and provide support... just look for one in the marketplace... good luck....

it's a bit tough to find a sealed box unless it's directly bought from the US). but that really is the best way to go. if only opened boxes & unlocked are available, it is important to ask the seller what method/software was used to unlock it. this way, you'll know the history of the unit for future reference if ever you need to restore the firmware and start from scratch. if you're getting one at Greenhills, another tip would be to buy from sellers that have permanent stores on the mall and not temporary stalls outside. this way, you can go back just in case your unit has a defect (but this is highly unlikely to happen).

and yes, another good option would be buying from a philmugger.

I bought mine in Greenhills last December at 25K and so far, so good. I think only one reseller distributed iPhones in the Greenhills cellphone tiangges at that time because all the stall owners I talked to got their iPhones from only one source. (Don't know if this is still true, though.)

I bought mine already unlocked and jailbroken (with a sticker that says, Don't upgrade to 1.1.2.). After a month I upgraded to .2 courtesy of Doblezeta. When the .4 came, I learned how to upgrade myself via ZiPhone to save me from time and additional expenses.

I guess if there's still only one reseller distributing iPhones in Greenhills, there's really no other way to find out which one is safe and which one is not.

    Thanks for the help.

Is there a specific version that I need to find?

If I get an unlocked and Sealed phone, is it 101% that I can unlock it using a PC?

try buying at ebay.ph. there are lots of sealed iphone there. you can even unlock it all by yourself, just read more thread on this site for more info.

all versions are 101% unlockable, i guess even the yet to be released ver 2.0 is unlockable using ziphone.

I was trying to find an iphone 8gig and I was able to find something like

"Brand new.SEALED and NEVER BEEN OPENED. Openline and UNLOCKED. You can use it in any network."

Is this possible or should I say is this a good deal?
