the nano's battery is rated for 14 hours, but actual performance (could be a little more, or a little less) depends on other factors like backlighting, processor use, even room temperature. battery claims are like gas mileage figures for cars--depends on road and driving conditions, but the manufacturer will always give you the most optimistic one. the cnn nano tester got more than 14 hours, i've gotten about 11. if your boyfriend got 13 hours, consider him lucky.

Yup, 13 hours is great. If your boyfriend tinkered around a bit, like keep the backlight off, not touch any of the controls during operation, and play songs in order, I'm pretty sure he can squeeze out a couple of hours more.

Besides, it's too early to tell. Rechargeable cells stabilize after a few charges. I've seen some devices' battery life go better with more charges.

BTW, Apple will only grant a replacement if actual battery life is 50% of indicated specs.

a weird thing happened to my nano recently. 2 days ago, i fully charged my nano since i was going to use it the next day. but, since i got so busy the next day, it turned out that i wasn't able to use it. i left it untouched for a whole day. but to my surprise today, the battery was drained. is it normal for an ipod's battery to work that way? :x:

that's odd. when my battery level is down to the last sliver of red, it can last for 2-3 hours.

according to my measurements, my nano can last up to 13.5 hours (includes about 7-8 times of turning it on/off and no menu usage at all)

are you actively using the menu when you were using it?
