My iPod is dying. :(
It constantly hangs now.
The first time it hanged, I left it and wait until the battery drained.
After charging it, it was okay!
Played a song and a half, and it went dead again.
Do have any idea how much it will cost me if I bring it to Apple?

Hi. You can also back up your playlists by using the export function of itunes. This way you can recreate your ipod to something close to what you originally had. Redoing all your old playlists can be a real hassle!

Aww. Shoot. I wish I read that before I had it reset.

Re: My iPod is dying. :( Error 1418: Cannot restore or update iPod
:slanted: my ipod is dying, or may have died already. and i feel sad.
i was using it when suddenly it started skipping songs. then on one song it absolutely froze. i distinctly heard a whirring sound coming from the ipod when this occurred. since i know it's normal for ipods to freeze every now and then, i reset it. the apple logo appeared and still with the whirring sound then i got a folder icon with an exclamation point. my heart skipped a beat and so i hurriedly logged on to the apple support page. i tried numerous things that was written there namely:
1) reset - no go. first thing i did.
2) restore - no go. when i plugged my ipod to my pc, it took a long time for an error appear on my screen that my ipod is corrupted and needs to be restored. since i haven't backed up my stuff, i tried accessing the drive through the Explorer window. it saw the ipod but there were 0 items! assuming that the corruption erased or damaged my data, i went on to restore it via iTunes. to my utter dismay, during restoration, i got a 1418 error.
2) format - no go. i tried the format option when i right-clicked on the ipod drive as seen under My Computer. i tried a manual format through the command prompt screen, format f: - no go. the drive specified cannot be located.
3) i tried repeating the same process on my home desktop pc - no go. i tried it on my macbook and since the ipod was formatted on a pc (FAT32), eversince i updated to iTunes7.0, i couldn't make my mac recognize my ipod. or maybe it was a sign already since before the iTunes7.0 update, i was still able to use my pc-formatted ipod on my macbook.
4) disk mode - i tried the whole steps in disk mode - still no go.
i'm bringing it to an asp (senco link phils.) tomorrow if they can still revive my ipod. if not or if it will cost as much as getting a new one, i don't know yet. as of now, the thought of my 40GB click wheel ipod escapes me. i just had a nuclear meltdown after this happened.
