Default My first iPhone Globe bill

Well, not quite an entire month of iPhone usage. A little over a couple of weeks from my bill is from my iPhone usage.

My total bill was P6.5K. That's rather large for someone like me, who averages around P3K to P4K per month. In addition, I have a P1.4K monthly bill credit thanks to the loyalty reward.

Where did it all go? Voice calls! My data usage was around P1,200. International calls (none of which actually connected), was just P40. SMS was well within my monthly free allowance. Everything else went to outgoing phone calls, long ones at that.

Damn this iPhone! I ended up making telebabad uselessly. After two months of having it with me, as an iPod touch, I guess I couldn't help but make calls once it was able to.

No regrets though. I'm pretty sure it'll go back to normal in my next bill. I've removed the "h" from the APN and I'm a little more conscious of my outgoing voice calls.

At least you didn't get a 300-page bill like this girl did from AT&T. But of course I suppose with a phone as fabulous as the iPhone, you just want to keep using it!

    Hi Elbert,
Can't wait for my retention plan to be renewed by 2008 just in time for the Philippine release.

Raises an interesting question: Will the Telco that offers the iPhone finally have an unlimited data plan? It seems that would be a must with the iPhone.

they'd better, because with free unlocking now available, just offering the iphone isn't going to be good enough. (i hope globe and smart or even sun read this.) for apple, tying up exclusively with one telco won't make any sense unless that telco offers special features and services--like a data plan.

This is true and i agree. Apple and Telcos all around the world should re-plan their strategy for selling the iPhone.

I'm betting there will be unlimited data plans for the iPhone kaso they would cost more to compensate for Apple's mandatory revenue sharing.

I dont expect the iPhone to be part of the retention rewards program of Globe. You'll need to buy the iPhone outright. The local iPhones would be subsidized either.
