    Key features/improvements:
    • New touch sensitive Click Wheel (just like in the iPod mini) for superior one-handed navigation.
    • Improved user interface featuring Shuffle Songs, now at your fingertips, directly on the Main Menu
    • Thinner design
    • 50% increase in battery life for up to 12 hours of skip-free playback.
    • new prices, making the 20GB and 40GB even more affordable

    Accessories and Dock Compatibility.
    • 20GB no longer include remote, carrying case, and dock.
    • 40GB no longer include remote and carrying case.
    * 3rd generation iPod dock is NOT COMPATIBLE with 4th generation iPods

    System requirements for 4th generation iPod: p
    • Mac * Mac OS X v10.1.5 or later (Mac OS X v10.3.4 Panther recommended) * iTunes 4.5 or later * FireWire or USB 2.0 (USB 2.0 requires Mac OS X v10.3.4)
    • Windows * A Windows PC with 500 Mhz or higher processor speed * Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 or Windows XP Home or Professional * iTunes 4.5 or later * FireWire or USB 2.0

    Others
    • A new dedicated Audiobooks section within Music.
    • Users can now create, save and sync multiple On-The-Go playlists with iTunes, as well as delete songs from an On-the-Go playlist.
    • Audiobooks listeners will find a dedicated Audiobooks section within the Music selection and a new adjustable read speed settings so customer have the option of Slower, Normal, and Faster.
    • The iPod clicker can now be heard through the headphones to support fingerless navigation.
    • Improved Click Wheel navigation with a faster acceleration speed when scrolling through long lists.
    • Ability to charge and sync over USB 2.0 directly out of the box. iPod now includes both FireWire and USB cables to ensure compatibility on either a Mac or PC without the need to purchase additional cables.
    • In addition to the current 14 language interface, the new iPod supports the display of song, album, and artist tag information from an additional 14 new languages, including Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Greek, Hungarian, Portuguese, Polish, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Turkish, and Ukrainian.

    Elbert, would you know if third party firewire accessories for the 3G iPod will work with the 4G? Sayang naman if the PocketDocks, SiK imps, et al won't be usable!

    According to the the Gadgeteer Bulletin board reviewer, the 3rd gen accessories he has works with the 4th Gen. I havent personally verified though since I don't have dock accessories.

    It was also mentioned in the thread that there is a slight improvement on sound.

    More interesting are possible ipod 4th gen "secrets" not yet publicized, as mentioned by Geek.com here.

    More reasons to buy the ipod 4th gen :evil:

    3G iPod dock is 100% compatible with 4G iPods. I tried it on my gf's 4G 20G. Charging and iTunes synching works.

    As noted on Pocketdocks website it works on my 4G ipod... both the lineout and firewire works great!
