Mini iPod Happy Camper! Any advice guys?
Delayed gratification at work...
Finally got to upgrade my 1st gen. iPod (10 Gig) to a silver mini 'pod... :P (Got a good deal here in Santa Monica, was able to get a leather iPod Incase for free...) Thing is, I've been getting a bit of "space anxiety" because of the "limitations" of the Mini...
Any suggestions on what to do? Or how I can organize my playlists without losing my mind?
(I have about 15 Gigs worth of mp3's..)
Or maybe softwares I can download? (legal of course...)
My ever-faithful 1st gen. will now be relegated to "portable hard drive status".
But now I've been racking my brains coming up with a name for it...

@El Camote: (Sorry, medyo OT)
Hey Tom! (and maybe for the benefit of the other MUGgers as well...) An update on the G5, made up my mind and all, but fate is not seeing things my way...
I've hit the 3 branches of Apple Stores, (@ the 3rd St. Promenade, @ the Grove, and @ the Beverly Center) and guess what? All the iMac G5 20-inchers are sold out...
I was asking my dad for advice and he says to wait nalang for the stocks to get to Manila, save up the money I was going to use for it here, and just purchase it there. At least can try to haggle for extended service coverage / warranty, and be saved the inevitable paranoia of the risk of handlers manhandling my luggage where the iMac will be kept. (plus the off-chance of the dollar going up again hehehe.) "Snowball" sounds like a good name tho...
In any case, going back to the topic at hand, I just really had to get my Apple fix here in the States, so that's probably why I bought the mini 'pod muna...
Incidentally, finally came up with a name for my newest 'alaga... Silver mini in a black leather case with handsewn stitching... I think I'll name it "Varvatos"
Medyo malabo 'yung name, but kudos to whomever gets it...

Hmm, iPod mini capacity too small, wish you had gotten at least the 20GB version for a few more bucks. Looks like you'll have to cut down your song list.
Also, LMK will have the iMac G5 stocks available in Mla within the first 2 weeks of October, we've been taking orders already, so please call or email us ASAP if you want to reserve.
Please remember the warranty of all Apple desktops is covered (also known as free!!!) in the country of purchase. Thanks!

Hi Wari_activ,
To address your original question, I got the green mini iPod and have been very pleased so far with my decision. I knew that at 4gb it was significantly smaller than the 20gb, and my 10+gb collection, scattered across three computers, would present difficulties.
What I did was first automatically sync the mini to my work laptop, which I use the most, and which had about 3gb of music. Then I manually added songs from the other computers. Finally, I created a smart playlist in my iPod which gives me the 25 songs that I play least frequently and added or last played more than a month ago. This way, I have a constant list of candidates for replacement if I hit the ceiling and I have new music to add.
I'm sure everyone will have their opinion on this, but personally I don't need to listen to more than 1000 songs a week, and am willing to pay the price of manually shuffling songs around when I do feel a deep need to listen to another subset of my music.
This way, I don't feel limited by the 4gb (at least, not just yet). And while the physical size difference between the mini and the 4G indeed looks negligible on paper, I find the difference in portability is significant. The size of the mini and its aluminum construction allows me to carry it around without worrying too much--plastic would make me get a nice thick case to protect the ipod, but with aluminum I feel safe even without one.
All in all, I'm very pleased with the mini
Although I did have an issue with my "menu" button in the first couple of days, which went away after a few charge/discharge cycles.

Laagi talaga ubos ang stock sa sta. monica. Nahirapan din ako in getting my mini last april. Mas madami stock sa Fashion Island and Costa Mesa. Good luck in getting the g5:beer:
