microphone busted
the mic on my iphone's not working!
I made call's yesterday in the afternoon and it worked perfectly and when i made another call last night, the person on the other end couldn't hear me but i could hear him perfectly. the best he could hear was a very faint sound when i would scream into the mic. i could hear him perfectly so the speakers working well, it's just the mic that's gone crazy. i dropped my phone over a week ago and there were no problems at all till last night so i don't think that was the cause, it just happened suddenly. help!!! anyone know how to fix this?? the only solution i could think of is restore the iphone, ship it off to the states and have someone return it to an apple store so they can fix it under the warranty. i need all the help i can get. thanks.

Re: microphone busted
Have you tried making other calls with the same results? Another test you could do if you already have AppTapp is to install VNotes and see if you could successfully make a voice recording.

Re: microphone busted
yeah all calls i've made work the same way. when i used the headset that came with the iphone, the person on the other end could hear me. so i really think it's a hardware problem but i'm really really hoping i'm wrong and it's just some easily fixable glitch. I haven't tried using vnotes yet but i will install it as soon as i can. thanks ranma. i hope i don't go through the hassle of having to send it all the way to the states to have it fixed... i'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Re: microphone busted
They did say hacking it will void the warranty. But that's why chocolate said he/she's going to do a restore on it first. The restore would have to be with the 1.1.1 firmware so the phone will relock before being sent out.

Re: microphone busted
okay so i installed the vnotes app and made a recording and i was able to make one, but the sound was barely audible. i also made a recording using the earbud/headset and it worked great. so it couldn't be a software problem since the mics still working, although very very badly. does anyone have any other ideas about what else i can do aside from shipping it all the way back to the states?

@ Ranma
Yes, you can restore it back to the original version but i heard from someone reliable that his brother had a problem with his unlocked iphone and had it restored to its original version (hence "locked" to AT&T) and placed his AT&T sim and brought it back to Apple.... They have this
gadget which they connected to his iPhone that knows whether it was unlocked or not.... and they said the warranty was void since it was already an unlocked iPhone.
@chocolate
I really hope someone can help you.... maybe the one who unlocked your phone? HTH

oh no! i have a relative flying to the states in a few days and i was planning to have her bring it to apple for me. and if they are able to detect if my phone had been unlocked previously then well, i'm pretty much out of options

Yes, this is highly probable.
