Whats the purpose of selling your 4th gen 40 gig? is it just to have the latest 30gig ipod photo? only you can answer this, i guess it depends on your purpose for having an ipod. for me i bought the ipod photo, (not because it is the latest from apple) but because i want to have some of my photo collection handy with me all the time (w/o having to bring my PB). feature wise i guess what you have right now is ok. but if the photo feature is something that really impressed you then go for it. otherwise if you are just buying just for the purpose of having the "lastest" then think 2x, you might get into the habit of changing your ipod every year now. + the thought that you cant sell your 4th gen now at a competitive price you actually bought them.:2cents:

You might loose a lot of money if you sell you 4Gen after less than a year. If you get the 30Gb iPod photo this means you will have less storage space despite the new features. Which ones do you need? If The colored screen and the ability to store photos are what you need then go for it. Otherwise sayang.

though you may have upgraded to the latest ipod photo, you may not be able to maximize it since you're downgrading your storage to 30g plus the cash you may have to add on.
