issue regarding globe sim card on iphone 3gs

Hi guys,

My brother just bought from his friend an iphone 3gs from his friend. The unit is from globe, and he even got the unit with the box still sealed. Now, when he turned it on using his globe sim card, the phone has a message saying something like 'please use a non-locked sim card.' he tried using other globe sim cards to no avail. we do not have any smart or sun users in the house so we have not tried it yet. Has anyone had this issue before? How was it resolved? Help please thanks!

Does it give you the option to unlock the sim? It could be asking for the PIN.

You should place that SIM in another phone and then deactivate the SIM PIN.

thanks for the replies. unfortunately, i think the problem is with the phone itself. just came from globe. they tried using their demo sim and the problem still persists. actually, we have already tried other globe sim cards and the message is still there, so i think the sim is not the problem. they said something must be wrong with the phone. again, thanks to you both

since you mention you got the unit sealed, probably Globe unit requires 'Activation' process similar to AT&T unit.

have you tried using post paid SIM from Globe and connecting it to iTunes for Activation?
