iPod won't unlock

My 3G 15GB iPod is stuck in the lock/hold position. Even if I slide the switch to the unlock position, the lock sign is still displayed and I still can't use any of the buttons.

Any suggestions on what I can do or do I just bring it to an Apple Center?

i seem to recall having a similar incident before. Do you have the remote attached while you are doing this? If so, switch to the unlock position on the remote and remove it. then switch to the unlock position on the ipod itself, that fixed the problem I had before if I recall correctly..

Thanks. I know I saw a similar post here some time ago. Problem is I already lost my remote. I'll try to borrow one. Thanks for the help.
