Re: ipod touch video out
ask ko lang po what do you use as TV out on your old iPod 30GB? is it the headphone jack? if so, then you can't use it, you need a dock adapter for it.... (the new one with apple auth. chip)

Re: ipod touch video out
i have a generic audio/video cable with a mini plug on one end (via earphone jack) installed on my car.
so i have to buy this EXPENSIVE ACCESSORY to view my pics/vids on my car monitor?
....is there no other way?

Re: ipod touch video out
you need an Apple Composite (3 RCAs: left audio, right audio & video) AV cable, or Apple Component AV Cable, about less than 3k in Digital Hub.

The reason why there is no more video signal in that iPod Touch earphone port, is that that signal is now used as a mic signal in the iPhone, for phone headset purposes (left audio, right audio & mic signal) And since the iPhone and iPod Touch are of the same design, the latter too needs to use that new cable. The video signal now passes through the iPod Touch USB port at the bottom.
I have the composite one, it's still affordable for the quality of the product you get.
If it can make you feel better, try to research if the 2nd Gen iPod Touch actually has a mic signal in that earphone port, that would mean that in tandem with a headset mic/earphone, you can use the Touch as a Phone using TruPhone or some other VOIP app...

@zepmantra: Yep, since the 2007 class of iPods, Apple's added a hardware upgrade so that only an Apple authorized video out cable will work. Look at the reviews on last year's (2007) iPods at ilounge.com and they have the entire situation laid out in specific details.
