iPod touch audio in reportedly working
http://www.tuaw.com/2007/11/21/ipod-...tedly-working/
Over at the iPod touch fans forum, user Marian reports that he's managed to confirm that the iPod touch audio input pins are active. He modded an old docking cable, connecting the line-in pins to an audio source. He then used voice recording app to capture the signal. Marian writes that he's recorded from audio line in. He's now working on attaching a mike.

I think the audio-in was disabled for the iPod Touch. You can't use a mic to record audio.

I wonder if the hackers are that good that they can eventually convert an iPod Touch to working iPhone by enabling SMS and phone.app too.

we'd need to put in simcards to do that......plus we need access to the GSM network.......but if ever this happens my iPod wil never ever leave my side!!!

Interesting. Though I am not at all excited by this, it does give hope to rumors about other hidden features. I am hoping that the Bluetooth chip does exist. This to me is significant because then it will be just a matter of time before the iPod Touch can be paired up with a broadband phone.
