Apple Genius
iPod Photo first impressions
No, silly, not from me. (Don't I wish).
From Playlist magazine. Here.

Sample quote: "I’ve handled every iPod ever made and I noticed immediately how hefty the iPod’s box was compared to other boxes o’ iPods I’ve lifted. That extra bit of heft comes from an iPod that’s nearly as thick as the original 5GB iPod, the usual ingredients — a power supply, USB 2.0 cable, FireWire cable, Apple earbuds, and the little box of instructions (which includes, for the first time, the kind of white Apple decals that accompany a new Macintosh). The iPod Photo also includes a dock (with S-video connector along with the usual data/power connector and audio port), a case (yes, the same $39 Apple case you buy separately for other iPod models), and a heavy-duty A/V cable that features both composite video and left/right audio connections."

yeah pls do (i mean give your reviews about the iPod Photo)..... its in my "THE LIST", what im really interested is in the extended battery life and the colored screen... the fact that you can be bring all your photos with you in your ipod doesn't strikes me as much... well thats my opinion

"the fact that you can be bring all your photos with you in your ipod doesn't strikes me as much..." polar mac
for me this is what interests me most ksi we dont have to bring our PB when on vacation & its plug & play you can just play it on the TV using the ipod itself. imagine no need for a dvd or vhs to play slides of your fav pics. but then again i want to know more kng ano ang mga limitations ksi i might be expecting to much from it. and polar mac is right... to each his own......

Not that I can afford one at the moment, but what I feel is missing from the Ipod Photo is a media slot so that I can stick my CF cards into it to backup my shots.
And btw, Adel, you forgot to mention my little web site in the new Canon magazine. YOU!

got one yesterday.
here's a mini review:
it's a bit thicker and heavier. Screen is respectable especially with the pictures, though not as crisp as the the lcds behind our digicams. Without the backlighting, it's quite impossible to see any detail.
Overall response is quick and snappy. Font is more to form because of the higher resolution. Seems a little smaller though. Click wheel seems to depress a bit deeper but is a non-issue. Scrolling through photos is very quck, just like scrolling through your songs, even on full screen photos. slide shows on tv are typical ntsc resolution. just like the ones that are fed from your digicam. transition is a smooth diffused wipe from right to left (it can be turned on or off). you can adjust the time per slide from 2, 3, 5, 10, or 20 seconds. you can also click manually to the next slide. while on tv, the ipod shows the pic previously shown on the left, current picture shown on tv in the middle (larger), and next picture on the right. am already thinking in terms of lectures or slide presentations. dj gave me an idea yesterday which he previously read that it can actually play video if shots were taken frame by frame and all we do is scroll the wheel to produce motion. something developers can work on, i think. this morning, vic told me that the album art can be expanded from it's microscopic view while playing the music to a full screen image. problem is, it only lasts 3 seconds and reverts back to the regular format.
the other aspects are all like the the older ipods.
btw, it still sounds like an ipod. :lol:and the podsleeves fit well.
love it!
