    Default ipod disk format... interesting....

hey guys i found about this while ago lang..

i have an ipod mini which is mac formatted and use only with my powerbook. and when i plug it into my windows pc it says it cant recognize the ipods format and has to reformat it to windows..

i never did try it so my ipod was just mac complatible.

since yesterday i had a huge harddisk of mp3s so i plugged it in to my pc and formatted my ipod to windows and loaded the new mp3..

then i tried plugging it back to my powerbook to my surprise my powerbook did recognize the songs in it and itunes suddenly popped up with its contents.

hehe wala lang just sharing.. i wasnt aware of this that your ipod can work with a mac and pc at the same time simultaneously.

Question: whats the ipod disk format for then? why dont they just format the ipod msdos in the first place by default, for it to work for both computers?

iPod for Mac pala is HFS+

As for FAT32, it has a 4GB limit when copying files to the iPod (for data backups) and is also much slower than the native Mac OS Extended format.

I noticed that too, When I bought my 2nd hand iPod, saya saya ko, half filled na with songs. When I installed iTunes for PC, and connected the iPod - wipeout lahat ng songs - iPod kasi reformated itself for PC use. Well, it was a shot pero i know its illegal naman to do so.

Because the iPod is an Apple product. Maybe the question should be, why doesn't Microsoft release an update to support HFS+.
