I still have a USB power adapter (wall charger) from my 4th gen iPod. Works fine with my iPod classic and iPhone.

It really depends on your ipod. But all ipod wall chargers are the same, it just happens that technology made it smaller... My nano charges at 3hrs max and sometimes 2.5hrs when i'm not using it or still has some little charge left. I feel that charging on pc is a lil slower on my iphone or ipod nano, but that's just me. I lost one of those a year ago carelessly charging somewhere and forgot to pull the charger just only the cable.

sorry to hear about your lost charger. pc(desktop) or usb charger, in my experience charging takes longer in the usb charger, i dont know if its just me...anyway that ipod is kinda ancient already(mini) hehe. so now i think it will be faster with the new models

Charging time on older iPod (I think) is always slower because battery is not that efficient as today's battery, but it's pretty much the same when charging their batteries.

PS: It's okay, I have the smaller one that comes with the iPhone

This isn't exactly true. The wall chargers that came with the 3rd and 4th generation iPods were not USB chargers with 5V DC output - they were Firewire chargers that output 12V DC. This isn't an issue because all iPods with dock connectors - including all of the current models - can handle a 12V DC charge just fine. In fact, 12V firewire chargers will charge up your iPod faster than a USB charger.

Any dock-charging accessory that claims to be compatible with the 3rd Gen iPod onwards will output at 12V DC (e.g., Bose Sounddock). A 3rd Gen iPod could not recharge via USB - it could only sync.
