iPhones in Hongkong

I just got home from HK and I saw a lot of cellphone shops selling UNLOCKED Iphones for only HKD3880! That's approximately P23,280.00! I was very tempted to buy one, but due to budget constraints I wasn't able to buy one.

These shops are located in a commercial building in Argyle Street, Mongkok, Kowloon (very near Dragon Hostel).

Those are probably the 4GB ones. My friend in HK says prices for 8GB are HK$4500 or so. (I'm maybe thinking of getting one there. A big MAYBE)
I admit they're cheaper than getting it in greenhills, but i'm wary about buying in hk.
Anybody has experience buying iphones in hk?

Here in Macau, unlocked 4gb iphones sell for 4,999mop, while 8gbs' sell for 5,999..way too expensive.. (forex almost the same with china's Yuan-rmb / Hongkong $)..

Well the HKD 3880 is the lowest price I saw in that place and those were for the new 8GB phones. The price HKD 4500 was for the iphone 8GB about a month ago. The prices have dropped since. I met a guy in HK who got his at that price about a month or two ago and he said that prices have dropped because of the apple price drop.

Really? My friend says it went up because 1.0.2 Iphones have become scarce.
