If the iPhone you bought is sporting firmware 1.1.2, it cannot be unlocked yet. You can have it Activated and jailbroken to use as an iPod and Wifi gadget. Other than that, only time will tell when will you be able to use the phone and sms functionality.

In addition, you may have the option to downgrade the 1.1.2 firmware/baseband down to either 1.0.2 or 1.1.1, activate/jailbreak and unlock the iPhone afterwhich you may upgrade back to 1.1.2. A bit tedious and nerve-cracking task but worth it and should free your iPhone for use anywhere in the world

Re: Is IPhone working in Saudi Arabia?
If your iPhone has the new bootloader (v. 4.06), which almost all OTB 1.1.2 iPhones have, you won't be able to software-unlock it even if you downgrade to a previous firmware version. You can, however, use a TurboSIM to fully utilize your iPhone. But the TurboSIM option is more on the expensive side. You might just opt to activate and jaibreak your iPhone to use it just like an iPod Touch while waiting for the iPhone Dev Team's unlock solution for the new bootloader. HTH.

Re: Is IPhone working in Saudi Arabia?
You could... but you'd have to resort to spoofing the baseband (SIM Proxy) via TurboSIM, StealthSIM, etc. By the way, a fully hacked iPhone would work fine in the Middle East. There are already videos on the net proving this.
