iPhone Roaming Problem
Hi, I cannot make outgoing calls and send sms while roaming in Malaysia. Message is "Call Failed". I'm able to receive calls and receive sms. I tried using my sim card in another phone (samsung) and I can make outgoing calls and send sms.
Please help!!! I'm here now in Malaysia until Sep-10.
Thanks in advance

Re: iPhone Roaming Problem
Can you give more details on what iPhone you're using and what provider (Globe, Smart, Sun)? You can try using the 0063xxx xxxx format instead of the +63 when calling the Philippines.

I got the same problems with some numbers in Hong Kong. Are you trying to contact outgoing Philippine numbers?

Re: iPhone Roaming Problem
It might be a problem with the local carrier and globe. If the problem persists, you might want to buy a prepaid local sim to call home.

Re: iPhone Roaming Problem
Try Settings-General-Network->Data Roaming and turn it on if it hasn't been turned on yet?
hope this helps

Re: iPhone Roaming Problem
I know this may be unnecessary but can you try a local SIM on your iPHone and call a local phone using the short hand 03 xxxx xxxx or 01x xxx xxxx and see if it isn't your iPhone having problems with working in Malaysia's GSM network? I haven't really used a Philippine roaming SIM with my iPhone before at 1.1.4 but I had tried roaming with my Malaysian SIM in India and it works just fine.
Do you happen to be connected thru Maxis (while roaming?) on your 1.1.4 iPhone? Back in the 1.x firmware days, I've heard a lot of local iPhone users complaining with Maxis compatibility with the iPhone.
