Re: iphone problems
remember all the problems the 1st generation intel macs had? even all the G4 macs had problems too... there are so many reasons not to buy ANY 1st generation products... its not like baseball cards, cars, or stamps... these [1st generation products] may actually have collector's value and appreciate. only if computers and other gadgets were like that... ah well its still cool to have and look at play with...until if turns into a 1st generation paperweight...

Re: iphone problems
i've actually been one of those (few?) first-gen early adapters who's never minded trying out stuff, for myself and in effect for others. aside from my old powerbooks (all the way to the powerbook 100, which i actually acquired later just for the collection), i got the first-gen titanium PB (400 mhz), the first-gen "icebook" (500 mhz), and the first-gen imac G3 (233 mhz). all had one teething problem or other, but somehow they all got sorted out and proved to be performers. i sold the tibook, but the imac (now 9 years old!) and ibook still work on a daily basis
yes, to be safe, wait for rev B or C; but if some people didn't go for the rev A, those improvements might never happen, so everything has a purpose here

Re: iphone problems
its all software anyway and who else would you trust to fix it but apple? At the end of the day it's really all about the software that's what makes apple so scary to the competition.

Re: iphone problems
I haven’t had any problems with mine. I’m sure it’s just a tiny percentage of iPhones out there that are having problems. Nothing to be alarmed about.
Usually, simply resetting the phone by holding the Sleep/Wake button and Home button at the same time for 10 seconds until the logo appears should solve the problem. If that doesn’t work, here are some things to keep in mind if you feel you need repairs for your iPhone:
- The iPhone has a standard 1 year warranty.
- Repair will take up to 3 days.
- You may rent an AppleCare Service iPhone for $29 while yours is being repaired.
- If it's out of warranty, it will be $79 to replace the battery, $199 to repair a 4GB, and $249 to repair an 8GB. Plus $6.95 shipping and handling.
- AppleCare Protection Plan for the iPhone will be available in July that will extend warranty up to 2 years from the date of purchase of the phone.
These apply to U.S. customers at least. Hopefully they will have the same if not better repair process and prices for Asia.

Re: iphone problems
My iphone had a battery issue. It never seemed to charge all the way up. I thought at first that I might need to do a couple of full discharge/recharge cycles before it held a full charge, lucky I went through forums where I found several other people reporting about it too. One call to applecare confirmed it was indeed a known issue and suggested I should go have it replaced. I called the local Apple Store to inquire about availability of replacement units, and I was told to just come by to have my unit swapped for a new one. The replacement unit is now working fine.

Re: iphone problems
well..at least they replaced it. Although instead of waiting for customers to come asking about a problem, they should have replaced all the batteries of the iphones in their stocks and informed those who already purchased one. but then again...how would they know which ones are the bad ones?...guess the customer is the tester hehe

Yep. And I guess, chamba-chamba lang din. You wouldn't know until you try charging, eh. Also, yesterday, I saw reports (official) over the web. Bug daw yung sa battery, and would be fixed with the next update.

Still, it was nice to have it replaced with a perfectly working one.

Re: iphone problems
yeah, i've had to bring mine in to the apple store also for battery issues but my problem wasn't with the unit not registering a full charge but was due to dismal battery life. apparently some units shipped with defective batteries but the charging issue supposedly is a firmware issue that apple has acknowledged and will address shortly. the apple store happily just gave me a brand new unit which seems to be working fine.
