iPhone out of stock!

well, at least in the NYC area.

i got a word from my aunt today that there is no available stock of iphone all over New York. She was supposed to bring in some iphones for me, she tried two apple stores one in soho (near her work) and one in palisades (near their house) but to no avail.

so i tried to google and found this

does this mean that 3G iphone is imminent?

When stocks run out like that, it's 50/50. It can mean that the iPhone is about to get an update, but it can also mean that sales are so brisk that production can't keep up. I'm betting on the former.

I see a lot of iphones here in hong kong. as in every store has an iphone to sell

yup iphones are out of stock even in california and even apple store... it would take 2 weeks for them to deliver the iphones

Aren't they suppose to announce it first before any update, whatsoever? I mean the announcement should come from Apple itself.

The apparent shortage of iPhone seems to be the topic of a number of blogs and websites. Even Walt Mosberg in a video said, which seemed to be a slip, that a new iPhone wlll be available in 60 days.

not surprised out all, in the US thy didnt use to care what phone they use, mostly they used flip phones. now they ask for iphones and blackberry at AT&T stores.

Since the latter part of February, the 16 gb model has always been scarce. A friend who lives in Daly City went to several Apple Stores in San Francisco but was repeatedly told to return after a week or so because there were no stocks.

When I assisted a friend to order several iPhones through the Apple Online Store, we were amused to find out how the order was processed. Order was made in Manila, forwarded to US then to Shenzhen (China), then shipped by Fedex from Shenzhen to Anchorage, then to Idaho, then to another state, before finally reaching California. Then from California, the items were hand-carried to Manila two weeks later. I do not know if that is the way Apple processes online orders... stocks were taken not from what they have in store, but rather, they forward the orders directly from the manufacturing plant (Shenzhen, in the case of iPhone).

iPhone update here we come!

That's really good news for me because that would mean people selling their current iPhones to update to the latest model. And that would mean new iPhone users!
