iphone headset jack Qs

is it really supposed to be very tight? the phone has been with me for a few months now and i still find it too be too tight compared to my ipods which seemed to be more "smooth" when plugging the earphones...

another observation i find is that there seems to be very slight "click" (not noticeable unless in a quiet environment) when entering my earphones, its weird because after I plug/unplug it again its gone, but the following day its back again the first time I plug in the earphone, am i just being too OC here or should I be concerned? performance wise no problem with the unit/headphone jack... thanks for any inputs..
