Iphone Dead Strip
Greetings...
Been searching threads regarding this issue but i can't find one. Have anyone experienced having this problem on their phone? Mine started to malfunction while i was texting, the lower right part would not respond when touched. Now i think it beginning to get worse even the slider wont respond like it used to. I brought it to Mr. Ed Velarde to have it checked and he told me it might be the lcd that needed to be replaced. Thank you very much Ed.
These are my options: (your advices please)
1. Send it back.I bought it in New York through a relative so im guessing its still under warranty BUT there are questions needed to be answered.
a) The phone has been unlocked. If virginized, would they know it?
b) It hasn't been activated via at&t therefore if i have to activate it there is a fee to terminate their contract.
2. Wait for replacement parts to be available in the market.
3. Buy a new one.
I went back to my old phone and its very frustrating. It's like driving a sports car then going back to a jeepney. Please advice me or else im stuck with a very expensive paper weight.
THanks

You can pretty much give up on getting warrant work done on it. Even if you manage to virginize enough so as to fool the technician (you probably will not), Apple will not do warranty work on an iPhone that is not attached to an AT&T account in good standing. Your best bet in getting the warrant work is to activate it with a prepaid AT&T account, and hope that they don't notice that it's been unlocked.
As for replacement parts, there are quite a few place where you can buy an iPhone LCD. However, from what I've read, the replacement is extremely tricky, and the part itself costs about $200.

Re: Iphone Dead Strip
I had this problem. Sent my phone back to the US and the apple store replaced it, no questions asked.
The phone was previously jailbroken and unlocked so i had to revirginize it.
I was lucky that I was able to prove the dead strip problem from the 'emergency call' screen (the delete key would not respond) so i did not have to activate my phone by subscribing to AT&T.
