iPhone can use GPRS for email & surf?

Hi Philmuggers,

I'm planning to buy an iPhone. However, I would like to ask first if I can use the iPhone for surfing & email through GPRS if there is no wifi available? I'm currently using O2 XDA2i and with they way it is setup I can use Globe GPRS to check & send my emails + surf the web if there is no wifi available like when I'm on the road travelling. Can someone please enlighten me if it is possible with the iPhone.
