    Default iPHONE battery life

I noticed my iphone's battery life only lasts a day even before, i only used it for music playing for 3hours with display off, an average calls of 45mins a day and internet through wifi atleast 2 hours in total. Do you think this is normal, i have SSH disabled already and wifi switched off when not in used.

I suspected the "E" signal or edge eating up my battery, and also the edge signal is always on. When iam using a phone "landline" and i hear this distortion its like when you make a call using your celfone i know its the GPRS modem that always searching for a signal. Anyone out there who can share any workaround or how long does your iphone have its juice. And also i called SMART there's no way deactivating the EDGE/3G once you have it.

why can't you disable edge through the services.app? the E logo will be there but no connection will be made.

you can download it using installer.app (apptapp) on your iphone... look for Services from the list of goodies

Guys would be better if you share your normal use with your baby like what apps do you use and how long does your iphone's battery life lasts, or any tricks to make your battery life more efficient.

This is what ate up your battery life. The biggest power consumption comes from your LCD. Notice that when you are playing music or when you are in a call (and the phone is to your ear) the LCD turns off so the usage time does not affect battery life so much. But when you are surfing the web or watching video the LCD is on the whole time. In addition to that the wifi chip uses power and the GPU as well.

Try this. Fully charge your iPhone and resist the urge to use any other function except calls and sms. you will see your battery last over 48 hours. Now try it again but this time watch a full length movie or surf the net for a couple of hours, you will be reaching for the plug within the day.

You can conserve power by setting the brightness slider to 1/4 and activating automatic backlight adjustment.

Here is the official spec from Apple for reference:
    Power and battery
    • Built-in rechargeable lithium ion battery
    • Talk time: Up to 8 hours2
    • Standby time: Up to 250 hours3
    • Internet use: Up to 6 hours4
    • Video playback: Up to 7 hours5
    • Audio playback: Up to 24 hours6

I think it's normal for the usage you specified. Consider the battery of an N95, which I've heard lasts only a day mostly on standby, hardly being used. I've also read about someone using the GPS and a fully charged battery didn't even last an hour. Maybe Jobs was telling the truth that 3G chipsets does suck up the juice. The N95-3 and N95 8GB supposedly have better batteries packaged with them.

Also, my old Nokia 6600 lasts for around 2 days, usually with no voice calls and just texts used for e-loading. I remember using it to surf the net using bluetooth (via my desktop pc/ICS) and the battery lasted only few hours.

Yup, the iPhone is looking pretty durned good in terms of battery longevity.
