iphone audio problem
the sound coming out of my earphones sounds like it's coming from underwater or muffled. i tried using a different set of earphones and it sounds the same way. and some parts the songs sound distorted (volume of vocals is very low or none at all but instruments' volume are fine). i tried playing tap tap dance and i hear the same effect. tried resetting all settings, turned it off and put back on.
but when i use the on-board speakers, music sounds fine.
this problem suddenly arose while i was halfway through my playlist.
will restoring FW have an effect? i hope it's not a hardware problem

Re: iphone audio problem
Unfortunately, sounds like there's something wrong with the headphone jack. You can try restoring it, before bringing it in for replacement.

Re: iphone audio problem
try this:
may be there is something inside the headset jack.
tap upside down, or use a toothpick to pick or wrap a double sided tape to stick out anything stuck.
if ok na, you owe me a Starbucks, hehe! good luck

Re: iphone audio problem
here an update to my audio problem:
1. tried cleaning using a cotton swab, blowing to it and even sticking a piece of adhesive tape inside it but the problem still persists.
2. i followed the suggestion of an applei.ph member and plugged in my altec lansing desktop speakers to the headphone via the same earphone adapter(since the headphone port is recessed) i used with my earphones. lo and behold, the music was perfectly fine. but when i plugged 3 different working sets of earphones, the muffled/distorted sound was back. So I plugged my desktop speakers again to make sure it wasn't a fluke and the sound was really perfectly fine.
so now the question is why do the earphones give out a muffled/distorted sound while the speakers sound right? all were plugged to the headphone port using an earphone adapter but came out with different results.
