    Default Incorrect number shown for SMS alerts

    Has anyone experienced this problem before? I tried searching the forums but I couldnt find anything similar. Everytime I get an SMS, the SMS Icon displays the number 2 (in a red bubble) instead of 1 even if I only have 1 new unread message. Once I read the message though, the number disappears.

    I can't quite pinpoint what caused this, although I do remember forwarding a contact using SMSD. I'm not saying SMSD is the culprit, but that was the last program I used before the problem.

    Already uninstalled it, and power-cycled the phone but I'm still getting the same problem. Any thoughts on this?

    That sounds weird.. have not experienced this before. By the way, what firmware is your iPhone running on?

    This happened to me before and the culprit was a non numeric text coming from a promo. Its listed at the bottom of the sms (last on the list). I did not bother to read it and just deleted it

    @respiritu: running 1.1.2 c/o the Amazing Doblezeta

    @benzng: I havent received any promo SMSes yet, so I'm not quite sure if that's what's causing it.

    I'm on "observation" mode at the moment just to check any other quirks I might experience.

    I think I didn't describe the problem I was experiencing accurately, seeing the responses that I've gotten were all related to numbers not being recognized, which is a different issue altogether.

    Anyway, the original problem was, when I get a new text message, instead of my SMS icon in springboard displaying the number "1" for 1 unread message, it displayed "2". It seems like my SMS database had one particular SMS that it continued to tag as unread.

    Problem fixed: I just deleted all my SMSes, and so far, things are looking good. I just hope it stays that way.

    you might want to check on your sms.db file on your iphone. This happens if you receive a corrupted sms. Ive experienced the same issue before and all I had to do is:

    1. Delete all sms, just like you dis of course all sms (including the corrupted one) is deleted (i guess.. anyway, so far, it works).
    2. Check out the sms.db file and look for the corrupted one if you dont wanna loose all the sms u have received.
