How do you manage iTunes with 2 HDs?
If I have two iTunes Music Folders, one on the internal HD and the other on the external HD, can you transfer the songs to the iPod from both in one go? Now, I think that's a silly guess, since you can only choose one location of the Music Folder at a time, right?
Or do I have to choose one HD as the location of the Music Folder, then transfer the songs and playlists I want. And then choose the other HD as another location of the Music folder, and transfer the other songs and playlists I want from there?
From a previous thread, I'm supposed to daisy-chain the devices like this:
Pbook::External HD::iPod
Tama ba?

My primary iTunes library is on my external firewire hard disk, which is not connected all the time. When iTunes is launched and doesn't detect the iTunes Library (on the external hard disk), it creates a new one in the default location (within your Music holder in your Home directory). The songs are still remembered, although trying to access them will yield an encircled exclamation mark until the song becomes available (by plugging in the external HD).
Now I don't have an iPod so I wouldn't know if there'd be issues, but I'm able to drag-and-drop my collection to other places with multiple iTunes libraries.

Ha-ha!
Thanks Gino! It's like I understood what you said na parang hindi! Sorry, I'm kinda slow this morning. So you still maintian a smaller library on your computer? I think I'll have a better understanding when I actually try doing it.
Any other experiences?

I have the same setup as Gino. When you sync the iPod make sure the firewire HD is connected. If not, you'll get an error message stating song xxx could not be found, and the iPod will not sync with iTunes.
AFAIK iTunes uses the library path in the advance tab as a reference on where to import new songs, import libraries or consolidate libraries. The location, or pointer to the location of a song, is stored in the iTunes Library xml/database. Therefore your old library location is still cool. iTunes will just use the library path to store new song you rip or import. confusing ba

I'm kind of getting it. So iTunes will mangage all your songs, wherever you place them, but the devices they are stored on have to be connected to your computer. Thanks!
