How do I use iPod TV out feature???
Hello Guys!
I have an 80gig iPod video. I am able to rip DVDs and import it into iTunes and load them onto my iPod and watch it.
Now I want to watch the videos on a regular TV using the iPod as the source. I bought the wire with the 3 RCA plugs that goes into the TV and the other end plugs into the iPod earphone jack. I enabled the TV out option on the iPod. I switched the TV to use the input channel where the 3 RCAs are plugged in... but no Video. Audio is present.
What could be wrong?
Is there a special video size I need to encode the DVD in? If there is a special size, does this mean that it is not vieawable on the iPod but viewable on TV using iPod as player?
Thanks for the clarification and help guys!

A friend told me that if you're using a regular RCA cable, chances are you wont get any video signal. He suggested alternating the color combinations i.e. red goes to yellow etc. I haven't tried this but I do share the same problem before. Thing is, the Apple iPod- TV cable is too expensive.

@bosero,
Also check that your iPod's Video output is set to NTSC (and not PAL).

Re: How do I use iPod TV out feature???
just to add to everything here, the "GO NUTS" setting on iSquint (I somehow prefer the simple MP4 encoding rather than the H264.. and it seems like it takes a shorter time to process too) really produces videos that around 150% of the original file size BUT the quality is fantastic. Parang DVD! (Well, in certain black portions of the screen you notice the block-y type of compression, but in other areas, wow! Comparable. MUCH better than VCD quality, that's for sure.)
I find that "standard" is too low a setting (saves space though - 700MB original becomes about 400-500MB in standard mp4 format), while GO NUTS should only be reserved for your favorite movies and clips. High is ok (700MB:700MB).
What's your favorite iSquint settings? hehehe
but yeah, my ipod tv out cable works like a charm after the switcheroo of the cables hehehe.. sneaky sneaky Apple

I'm confirming your thread, I've tried this out, and it works!
Apple is indeed very creative in hiding its secrets so you will be forced to buy its RCA cable...
I just thought of it, RCA is RCA, the only way that it wont work is if somehow they changed the order of color combination.... so wala... it works!!!!
