About LinkBacksI have an OEM firmware on my iPod Touch. I want to disable keyboard auto correction. In my Jailbreaking days this was easy with the wealth of ssh or afp hacks. Is there an ssh or afp app on the App Store that will allow me to snoop around and manipulate files on the iPod Touch?
Does auto correction learn? If so, I think Apple is mining user vocabulary to perhaps improve its regional dictionaries. This I think is the only compelling reason why Apple does not provide a toggle switch for auto correction.

Re: How can we disable auto correction on the iPod Touch? as of the moment there is nothing in any "legal" means on how to toggle the auto-corex of both the iPhone & the iPod Touch. There are, however, two ways to disable this feature. Either you JB your iTouch or wait for the next version (2.2) and see if the rumors of having a toggle switch for the auto-corex is true.

type any letter
then move the cursor right before that letter
then go ahead and type away! it will think you are just editing one word! no auto correct function! feel free to type tagalog, ilonggo, bisaya, or nippingo! konichiwa!

one thing I've noticed when I do this on my iPhone is that the double-tap of the space bar (to have a period "." followed by a space) is disabled.10.6.8 | 5.0.0.681 | 5.03 Prome-3 | 4.3.4

Settings>General>Keyboard. Kinda sleepy so I won't be able to post a screenshot, sorry.
