Help! Smart EDGE/GPRS Billing PHP3k! :(

Guys, just received my smart SOA, and my gprs billing amounted to 3k!
every 30 mins or so i get billed... is there a software that automatically disconnects gprs when say, home menu is pressed? how would you know that gprs/edge is currently working? if there's no automatic way, how do we turn it off manually? (i've heard that you turn on flight mode then turn it off again)

how about erasing those stuffs on the apn inside your setting/general/network/edge

maybe your email/im connects every few mins, thats why you get billed P10/30mins

heres what you do:

go to spring board and click on settings

go to general

now yell "bad iphone!" "why have you been such a drain on my budget!"

i think the answer to your solutions is in the threads. just use the search function. i remember using a solution that was in one of the threads.

Just remove the APN in the EDGE settings. Right now there is no automatic disconnect. It's quite tedious if you want to reconnect as you need to enter the APN again, but it sure is better than paying P3k/month just because you were not disconnected.

Install Services app in your iPhone...it would disable your Edge connection whenever you turn your Edge settings off.

Though Im not using an iphone, i've encountered a similar problem a few months back. You may want to CHECK THIS OUT

it may be a problem with smart and not your phone. In our case, we went to Smart Center, and after much haggling, we ended up paying 30% of the SOA. Although, we could have still contested it, we didnt want to go through more trouble. So DEAL na kay big smart banker.

thanks for all the input guys.. guess i have to manually disable it everytime, wala ring indicator on screen to check if gprs/edge is still running

no you DON'T have to manually disable it every time. that was the whole point of these suggestions--remove the APN, or even just the last letter "h" from .ph, or use Services.app.

your phone may still show the "E" but it won't be running EDGE/SGPRS--you can double-check that in Settings . Usage.
