help pls. some ipod Qs

i'm looking to buy an ipod video next week, problem is there's this rumor of a next gen ipod video coming out and i dont want to buy one (after waiting for a long time) only to find out that a newer version is coming out, how true are these rumors? gaano kaya katagal before it comes out? i'm going to get the current model now kung xmas pa naman pero kung next month na maybe i could wait it out, what do you think is a good move? thanks

btw dagdag ko na din, if ever i get the 5.5gen na lang, got some questions sana since this will be my first time to use one...

a. yung pag rate ng songs can it be done on the player itself?
b. can i search the library if i'm looking for a particular song? i heard puede hanapin alphabetically, how do you go about this one? can i input the first few letters of the song and the matches come up?
c. sabi puede daw gawin text reader yung player? puede kaya ebooks? is the text readable/legible enough?
d. any recommended protector for this unit? (dami na kse pagpipilian, silicon, leather,etc) the less bulkier sana the better, tnx!

a. yes
b. yes. Thats exactly what happens. There's a function on the menu for this. You use the scroll wheel to input letters
c. It can read plain text files. but limited to only about 2 pages worth of text, so unless its a very short story, you can forget about reading novels.
d. Go to digital walker and take your pick. There are crystal cases or iSkin types that are popular

shootertwist, there's a program (or something) that can convert long txt files into several short ones, so you can also read ebooks on your ipod. for protectors, check out bestskinsever.com

follow up lang, did some readings, tama ba intindi ko na maximum na kaya nung sa "notes" where the ebooks will be placed is 4kb kaya kailangan putol putol? and 4mb yung total maximum ng lahat ng notes?

nope...4kb for each note...as i said, there's a program that can break up a big txt file into several 4kb size files. HTH

ipods are really for audio and/or video. if you want to "read" i suggest you get a cheap PDA with e-book capability, i think second hand units ar available at very reasonable rates.
