    Default Help: iPod repair

hullo. does anyone know where i can have my ipod (2nd gen) repaired? reliable service centers?

it seems the front was pressed in slightly. no major damage, but the HOLD got stuck, and now i can't do anything with it but store files by plugging it into my ibook. i'm just afraid the apple centers will squeeze the life out of me with their outrageous service fees..

hope someone can give reasonable recommendations.

    thanks! and cheers!

Try AppleCenter. They can open iPods since they offer battery replacements.

Can I avail of a free battery replacement?

"...if you're the owner of a third-generation iPod: You're eligible for a free battery replacement or (at Apple's discretion) a replacement iPod, providing you still have your proof of purchase and file a claim by September 30, 2005 The news is not so good if you have a first- or second-generation iPod: You can choose between a check for $25 or a $50 store credit to use on Apple products (excluding iTunes). Well, at least that's something. But you're still stuck with your dead battery. What can you do?

Actually, they are very repairable. Hard drives and batteries can be replaced, just Google it and you'll find that instructions and prying tools are easily available. Obviously, any such work done on an iPod would void any warranty the unit may still have. Such work is only advisable if the iPod is no longer covered by official warranty.

Apple Center is an Authorized Service Provider, but the battery replacement service they offer is considered third party.

I find the service in Apple Center very good. So far no complaints and I think their rates are reasonable. I don't remember the costs, but I've had the covers of my iBook G4 (both inside and out and top and bottom) replaced and I didn't get upset with the charges. I don't think it cost over P10k for everything.

Check them out and see what the estimate is. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with their service.

Otherwise, try Palm1 (Glorieta, Ayala Center) or Mobile 1 (Park Square, Ayala Center).
