help! iPod makes funny noise
guys.... my iPod makes this funny noise whenever i select a song, but not all songs; just certain songs, and when the iPod is selecting songs during shuffle mode. i can hear the hardisk spinning inside and i can also hear some static-like noise. i cannot hear it with the earphones(of course) on or when my enviroment is noisy (syempre), you have to put the iPod onto your ear to hear it. it's bothering me! is it normal? i just discovered that noise last night. maybe the noise is normal? maybe the noise is already there from day one and i just didn't noticed it?!...because the iPod is a hardisk player... so maybe the noise is just a part of it's way of looking for my selected song/s. but what if it's not? do i have to take my iPod to an apple center?
what do you gusy think? is it normal? or otherwise?

Occasionaly, I also hear (and feel) the hardisk spinning whenever I start to play a playlist. This "feature" is somewhat new since I never experienced it with my 2nd Gen iPod. But I think that is just normal. As to the static-like noise, mine doesn't have it.

This happens to me too, though I wouldn't characterize any sound as static-like. I just attribute it to the HDD. Wouldn't hurt to bring it to Apple Center if it'll make you more at ease.

this just happened to me. try resetting the ipod by toggle-ing (forgot how to spell it) the hold button and then holding the play/pause and menu buttons at the same time.
This didn't help for me so I just restored the ipod to its original settings (formatted it) and re-synced it. And now it's all good. ^_^

According to the technicians at Senco Link, if you hear a clicking sound on your iPod, it has some sort of hardware defect. My iPod had the same symptoms, and I had i replaced.
If your baby is still under warranty, have it replaced

mysterious ipod sound
The following are based on the article I read in February issue of MacWorld.
The noise is the result of a simple ground loop that occurs when the exposed base of some earphones 1/8-inch stereo jacks makes contact with the metal chassis surrounding the headphone receptacle on the top of the ipod.
You can easily- and completely- remedy the problem by insulating the base of the earphone jack (that is, wrapping a small amount of teflon tape around the base of the jack.
Hope that help guys.

guys! thank you so much for the replies! my iPod is indeed broken. my pc couldn't detect it anymore. i also tried to restore it, but to no good. "restore failed" my pc said.
so i took it in an apple center (in megamall) and they said that they'll call me in 7 days, if not i call them.
so, if that;s the case. if the earphones is the culprit (maybe), why replece the apple earphone with earphones or headphones that has a plastic casing? ...can you guys suugest brand of earphones/headphones that really sounds great and worth my money?! i want earphons/headphones that sounds great and also not tat big to carry with me, portable enough to be put in my bag.
sennheiser or altec lansing? sony?
what are the best brands to buy?
thank you!
