    Default Help in dragging of itouch icons

    sorry if there's already a similar post like this. It just that i always get an error everytime I'm using the search button.

    I've read in the manual of iPod Touch that you can edit the arrangements of the icons on the Home Screen. It says in the manual that in order to drag the icon one should "touch & hold" until the icon wiggles, just like in iPhone.

    My question is, exactly how long should I hold before the icon wiggles? Do I have to have the Touch JB? I've tried holding almost 3minutes already but no wiggling icons.

    No, no, no, no, no, bro. First of all you need to have an iPod Touch with at least version 1.5 of the firmware. Check it by going to SETTINGS > GENERAL > ABOUT and you should be able to see it next to VERSION down the middle of the screen. If it says anything lower than 1.5, you really won't have the Touch to move and rearrange function. Upgrade your Touch to the correct firmware first, say 2.0, before trying again.

    I don't think there was a 1.5 version of the touch firmware. According to the iPhone OS version history Wikipedia page, the feature that lets you rearrange the home screen icons was added in 1.1.3, so zirkwander, you should be able to do it since you're on 1.1.4. That's what I remember too, after the so-called "January '08 update" of 1.1.3 (paid update for the touch), I was able to move around the icons on my touch's home screen.

    @PatrickGaerlan

    does your iphone have the notes, weather, maps icons? If it does, then automatically, your itouch would have the "icon-dragging". I've read somewhere over the net that those itouches that doesnt have the aforementioned apps should have in them installed the January Software. Included with it is the icon-dragging.

    Usually those itouches which doesnt have these icons on them are the first batches that were made & shipped out into the market.

    @zirkwander, You're right, the 1.1.3 update also included the new apps (Mail, Maps, etc.) for the touch. Since you're on 1.1.4, you already have those apps too, right?

    @raypin, yup, it's the same on the touch.

    after i got the update with the mail, weather and notepad - it's wiggling already hehehe. you can also have several screens of the menu if you want it organized to business, games, personal or any order you like

    ot: reminds me of the time I was in Miami. I pushed the elevator buttom to go up. Medyo natatagalan ako, so pindot ng pindot ako sa button. An elderly white lady with a Texan accent whispered to me "Oh honey, that's not gonna' work. That thing will open when its time to open."

    Is that so? If you guys say wiggling icons are already available on 1.1.4 (I can't remember) then how come zirk says he has 1.1.4 and can't make it work? /hmm
