Future iPodders
Hi! I'm not really an iPodder, but i'm gonna be one sooner.
I've been dying to buy iPod Nano since it came out because its the only iPod i can afford that has a screen on it.
I saw this black 1GB ipod on a store here in Tacloban, it's selling for 8000.
1) I wanna know if how can you spot a counterfeit iPoD?
2) Is it OK to buy a counterfeit? What's the difference from an original?
3) How much should I pay for an original iPod?

You're one brave soul!
1. It's always best to buy from accredited Apple reseller. Demand for an official reciept. The warranty is normally 1 year and there are plans available should you want a warranty extension.
2. Big No. You'll never get the same Apple experience. Besides the aesthetic quality, you got superb support from Apple each time you plug your iPod to iTunes.
3. The new iPod Nano offers 2 capacity; 2G and 8G. Decide which one, and what color you want. I can't give you exact amount but you can check out Apple Center, PodCentral, Digital Walker, Ynzal. Last time I checked, 8GB is around 14K, 2GB at 8K. The ealier version should be relatively cheaper.
You may also want to check Philmug's sister website PodCentral to keep you guided in your purchase. Enjoy!

I got mine 2 weeks ago. I can't tell you a remarkable difference from the ealier version since my last (and now lost) iPod was an iPod Photo. Video, in terms of quality is okay. My observation is based on the downloaded movies (which also varies in terms of quality and screen cropping) from Apple Movie Trailers site which are excellently sync with iTunes and compiled as a Podcast. Regular quicktime movies (converted for iPod format) stays in the Movie Folder. iTunes 7 seems to work best with the newer iPods as file organization has never been this easy.
As per rumors of the new iPods coming in by end of the year... I guess the rule applies that if you invest on a gadget, go for the top of the line, something that you can grow with. And among the iPods, i am settled with the latest version unless Apple releases of an iPod that scans and plays cable channels for free.

Haha, thas pretty cool super_ed, cable tv on the ipod. Well thanks for the advice, its just frustrating how apple quickly adds and replaces products with newer "generations". Which ipod would you recommend? the 30gig or 80gig? Oh and you can install osx on them and boot up via firewire right? any other features you know off?

Re: Future iPodders
If you have the bucks, then go for the bigger capacity. But I must warn you if you're OC enough, it takes a while (days) to organize your music files especially now with Cover Flow, Gapless thingy with iTunes 7.
On OS X, not sure with the new iPods now since Apple axed the firewire support already, but it used to be with the older iPod versions. Refer to this thread. I recommend get a dedicated External HDD for this purpose. The prices are relatively cheaper now.
Cheers!
