Formatting iPod to PC Format

Can you help me on this? I'm giving away my ipod to my brother and wanted to format it to pc format since he's using pc.
How do i do this? I'm currently using a powerbook and the iPod is in mac format.
Thanks!

I don't know much about the Ipods but, Isn't an Ipod already compatible with the PC?
There are two things in life that you should do to be successful. 1) Do not share everything you know.

Yep. You can only do it by connecting it to a PC. When you connect a Mac formatted iPod to a PC it will prompt you saying it can't read teh format and offers to restore/reformat (not so sure what exactly).

@reg52777 - pardon the piggy-back on this thread, but i just think it is relevant in some way.
i recently restored (on an MBP) a PC-formatted 3rd gen iPod for my kid brother. trouble was, i encountered some error messages and it displays the folder/exclamation point symbol. after several attempts to restore it via ipod updater, itunes and even disk utility, the unit won't go beyond the terrible symbol. brought it to ynzal's nomer and was advised to replace the hardisk for 1.2K. tough luck.

Re: Formatting iPod to PC Format
the procedure they mentioned works..
or if you want to feel a little more safe, uninstall iTunes on your brother's PC (if he has it), then use your iPod installation disc to install the software on his PC.. connect the iPod, then use iPod Software Updater to restore (thus formatting it to Windows).. then update his iTunes..

This gives me an idea.... is it possible to change my 60gb ipod's hard disk to like the currently available 80gb or maybe a 200gb HD? That would be awesome....

Re: Formatting iPod to PC Format
maybe it's possible if you can get a higher capacity drive that'll fit perfectly..
