    Default Final Vinyl by Griffin

I need feedback on this MAC gadget. Has anyone here in the forum used it? I need to get performance feedback.

Final Vinyl allows direct connectivity to your audio pre-amp for vinyl recording. It works with Waveform (editing sw) a free download for the MAC.

Feedback please, and if you have other suggestions.

Here's the Product*Description for Final Vinyl found on version tracker:
Audio application that allows users to easily record their collection of old vinyl records using just the Griffin iMic and their turntable. Previously users wishing to record their old record collection had to hook up their entire stereo system just to power their turntable. Now users can connect the record player directly to their iMic, and using Final Vinyl record and save all their old albums. They can then make them into CDs, MP3s etc. The beta version of Final Vinyl is available now for free download at www.griffintechnology.com. Final Vinyl does more than just record old albums; it is a fully functional general audio recording application as well. It can be used to record instruments, microphones and reel-to-reel tapes plugged into the iMic. It includes a 10-band Equalizer that is capable of significantly altering and enhancing a user's sound input. For example, inexpensive microphones could be improved by tweaking the base response. Old worn records can be fine tuned and tonally corrected. All this and more can be done using the completely free Final Vinyl combined with the Griffin iMic.

Sounds like a good piece of software. Now has anyone used the iMic?

I've been using it and it works great! Since I don't have the cash to buy the complete dj set-up, I used DJ1800 and my ibook as my workstation. It's kind of hard 'cause the program is limited. No BPM, no effects. Just pure mixing by ear and quality tunes... Wait, that's going OT. iMic is great. Haven't had any problems with it. Haven't used final vinyl though. :2cents:

does this work with tiger? i borrowed freefromula's imic but cant seem to install the final vinyl software from the included cd but a message saying that the "headers" file cannot be installed comes up. i tried downloading it but whenever i un-.sit it the folder comes up empty.

am i doing something wrong? if not, is there some other software i can use to record songs off an imic? or for that matter another device i can use to record into my ibook? thanks in advance.

    Hey Tobs,
I haven't tried final vinyl with Tiger yet, but I have the installer from their site.

what version would that be? if 1.1.2, thats the one i tried downloading but whenever i un-.sit it i get an empty folder. if youre successful, could you email me the one you downloaded? (anyone, successful, not just TJ) thanks!!

edit: this is the message on their download page:
"Version 1.1.2 is an update that provides a fix for Mac OS 10.2 users so it is now completely compatible with Mac OS 10.2 and above - including 10.3 (Panther)"

this is what led me to think it might not be compatible with tiger just yet.

My mistake, I have 1.1.2 already installed. The application launches. I can just give you a copy of the sit and the expanded folder.
