Default Extracting the Vocals from a CD

Guys, I have a question. I'm working on a musical for our parish and one of the things I need to do is to make a minus-one of our soundtrack. Since the parish neither has the money nor the time to score the sounds I was wondering if its technologically possible to get the original cast recording of the musical we're spoofing and simply remove the vocal tracks.

However, If this is not possible what are my other options?

If there's a kind musician out there who can do this for charity then I would be very happy :2cents: . I have the musical score. The music is based on the musical Avenue Q. It's 5 songs in total. I have the music sheets. I just need to record them. If anyone can help that would be much appreciated!

You can u2u me or e-mail me at francismir@yahoo.com or simply text me at 0922-8016938. Thanks a million everybody and I hope to hear from you soon.

    Hi francismir,

No, its not possible to completely separate the music from the vocals (unless you're a specialist that really knows what you're doing). However, it is possible to do a quick and dirty minus one. I've done it on a PC using SoundForge, there is a preset that does just that. The result is degraded, but the vocals are drastically reduced by about 80%. Perfect for your presentation.

If you have access to a PC, you also try this software

I think the same can be accomplished on a mac using Bias' Peak.

Or if you want, I can process the mp3s for you.

true, sound forge does the job good on this. but surprisingly too, the software that comes with the sony MINI-Disc (the net MD version) does the same thing too. they have a one click feature called voice cancellation which cancels the vocals to a song in a click, although most of the time, some of the intruments also get cancelled with it. i found that this program works better for acoustic (or barely instrumentalized) music. as in! i used it na nga for an impromptu minus one i needed to sing to for a campaign trail last election. tarush!

    hope i was of help.

    =)
