Whoever thought of the name did it without thinking....
Why not "earpod"?
Anyway, would you rather pay $20 to upgrade the same old apple headphones or pay a wee bit more to get a better headphones from inside out?
I was able to purchase this at the Apple Center/ IPod Station here at Power Plant. The price is 1,000.
As the their website indicates, the "ear jam" does include pads that come in 3 different sizes and also includes a small carrying case.
I find the case to be actually multi-purpose. Aside from its originally intended design of being earphone storage it may be used as a good alternative for Memory Cards as well.
I bought these because I was tired of using the black foam covers that originally came with my ipod. 2 pairs came with the ipod purchase. 1 pair got lost (fell of the ear pieces) and the other pair were already showing signs of wear.
Back to the earjams, use is very simple just clip them on the original earpiece and you're done. You'll just need to select the right size of the ear pad based on your comfort and preference. I use mine with the "small".
IMO, I personally find no technological advantage by using these. I say this in the context of sound quality. If you are thinking of buying REALLY better earphones then you're better off going for sonys or shures which have already been discussed in other threads in the forums.
I think they work (making your music seem to sound better) by actually making you LISTEN better. The pads are effective in blocking out most external noise which helps your listening to be more focused on the music alone which is good enough for me.
By the way, don't get carried away with Griffin's promise of the earjams delivering more bass. The bass was always there but you may not have caught it with all the external noise around you. The earjams just helped you to listen to it.
Nevertheless, I am quite happy with the earjams. Griffin has yet again produced a simple product that integrates into the IPod design flawlessly. Just don't expect a lot from the product.
It served my purpose and I'm also quite a Griffin fan too.
oh! And not to mention having these in-ear things would make your ears cling on to them. How many times have you guys encountered your 'phones falling off due to the weight of the remote or the "smartwrap" (c/o Digital Walker)? ^_^
