    Default Does the 160GB iPod Classic support Genius playlists?

    Am thinking of getting the previous generation 80GB and 160GB iPod Classic to store my entire music collection. Do these 5.5 generation iPod classics support the Genius playlists?

    Not this time. Unless Apple upgrades the current firmware for the iPod Classic (80 and 160 gb model).

    What you can do in the meantime is to generate Genius playlist in iTunes. Then create a new playlist (still in iTunes; name it anyway you want); then copy (drag) the selections from the Genius playlist to your new one. Ergo presto, copy to your iPod.

    I have an 80gb classic and have not gotten any updates to add Genius.....yet.....still hoping that it does come to the older classics.....I would even pay for the update.....I just want to be able to use Genius with my whole music library......

    @andrewcole836

    Many people share your sentiment. Also, many people are willing to pay just for genius to be included in the previous classic.

    But knowing Apple...sigh...

    Adding the genius feature wouldn't be difficult. However, Apple wants to drive the market towards the new 120GB and has phased out the original classics. I doubt they will do that. I also wanna get the 160GB one because it's bigger but i also want the genius feature.

    I heard that they'll be updating the 120GB to 240GB early next year. Rumor lang though.

    I have a Classic 80gb and I can create Genius playlists in iTunes and they sync with my iPod. Not sure what I did to make this possible?
