I like my Sennheiser HD 457, I even go malling with it. Unfortunately, I hate the cable (meters of it) that came affixed to the unit. Though it did came with its own cable roll-around clip, it still means I have to carry the whole length of the cable with me. And since the belt clip is loose and so are the cable lock slits are loose now, when it falls down, it unrolls the whole cable.
Is it safe to modify the cable so that I can have both short headhone cable, with enough length from low pocket to ears (for walking) and long cable when at home? I've attached a diagram, and I would sure like to know if this is possible, or even advisable?
To attach the cable sections, I think I'll just use headphone male and female headphone jacks.
Maverick, that's what I wann find out before I start it.
Can some of the audio shops do this kind of job? I dont wann do this on my own and end up damaging the cable. If there are shops, what would you guys recommend? Or do you think I should let Stage Craft do this? (they're listed as the Distributor in their PDF downloadable brochures)
Let me know if you have trouble finding a place to do it. If my technician here at the studio isn't too busy, he can wire it up for you. Just send me a u2u if ever.
@ Berniej,
I dont think smart wraps will be able to hold 3-something meters of cable about as thick as the white iPod firewire cable. The packaged smartwrap-like cable-takeup-belt-clip of Sennheiser is almost the size of Nokia 3650, and also about as thick as that.
@ Vic
Sige, I'll take up on your offer, pero I'll try muna Stage Craft or those Audio shops at the Shang. If none of those shops can do it, I'll give you a u2u. Thanks for the offer
