Default Creative CEO: iPod shuffle is a joke

HAHA Mr. Hoo can't believe why does things are selling so hot!

    -----------------------------------

Creative CEO Sim Wong Hoo has offered some harsh words for Apple's new iPod shuffle. "Actually, to me it's a big let-down: we're expecting a good fight but they're coming out with something that's five generations older," Wong Hoo said. "It's our first generation MuVo One product feature, without display, just have a (shuffle feature). We had that--that's a four-year-old product."

"So I think the whole industry will just laugh at it, because the flash people--it's worse than the cheapest Chinese player," he added. "Even the cheap, cheap Chinese brand today has display and has FM. They don't have this kind of thing, and they expect to come out with a fight; I think it's a non-starter to begin with."

In fairness, majority of the reasons Apple products sell are because they are "apple products." (of course let's not bring the actuall big player products into this since the computers themselves are actually good)

The shuffle in my opinion too, sucks if you really think about it - I don't think Hoo is being bitter at all. He's probably as dissapointed in that product as the Apple users are dissapointed in Windows (and we need no proof as to how good its doing in the market)

In anycase, i'm not dissing the shuffle's capability to sell in the market... since i'm sure it'll sell. Not because it's any good, but because its an Apple product. Take the iPod socks for example, a thousand plus bucks for a sock? yet people still will get it since it's from Apple

i get what your trying to imply. hehe. its true. as for macs and hardware its different apple does really stand out specially if your in to the whole multimedia stuff..

though as for accesossies and and small gadgets that they are trying to release. i guess its a bonus to them that people would opt to buy them, since as you said its "APPLE" a name trusted by them already.

It's going to sell, mainly because it is a good product. There are still a lot of holdouts wanting to jump into the wagon but are prohibited, mainly, by cost. I guess they have their work cut out for them now.

I got an iPod not only because it looked cool, nor that it had the Apple brand stamped on it, not even because I could sync my contact list and calendar with my Mac (other than synching my music of course), I bought it because it sounded good. 'nuff said, and from initial reviews, the Shuffle isn't about to be the 'black sheep' in the family. I'm sure that's one fact that's going to be hard to refute.

Who needs a screen when all you wanna do is listen to your music?

Personally, I've never bought ANY Apple product JUST BECAUSE it's an Apple. I bought the Apple products I own because they're the best in their class for my purposes. Just like the iPod shuffle, IMHO, is the best in it's class for it's niche. Apple products sell because Apple has the uncanny ability to distill the possible features until all they're left with are the absolutely essential ones. This makes their products so much more intuitive to use. I'm getting 2 iPod shuffles, not for me, but for my mom and sister. Not because it's an Apple, but because it's perfect for them.

    I hate the shuffle.

I hate the fact that the ad for it on the apple website made every flaw of the shuffle into a feature when it is not. Having unpredictable tracks is a feature? I don't know about you guys but I do want to know what song's going to play next and I want to browse for a specific song that I want to hear immediately.

No LCD for the surprise factor!? BS! they just forgot about it during the designing of the thing in Apple HQ. How will one know that he's out of juice?

I'd sooner buy the nomad than this freak of a device. they had it okay with the iPod standard. never mind the mini, the photo, and the shuffle.

Let's not forget that the iPod shuffle was not meant to replace the iPod or the iPod mini. There's still a market for the shuffle and it's not the same as the ones looking for a full featured MP3 player.

i agree with pentel pen... the shuffle is meant to rival the flash based mp3 players not the ipod per se... here in hkg, most people have the flash based mp3 player due to it being cheaper than the ipod. i've asked numerous officemates of mine why they have those taiwanese or china made flash players, why don't they just get the ipod mini (prior to the release of the shuffle), their reply? they can't afford the mini or the ipod, so they settled for something else, even if they really did want the ipod.

not everyone is as fortunate as you jorweeck to be able to afford it.

oh yeah, most flash based mp3 players here that are popular don't have a screen either. i don't think they have a shuffle song function either. not the one's i've seen anyway. :2cents:
