covers, versions, and remixes
i just picked out anton ramos' chill out house sessions 2 and i absolutely love it. love the first track -- kiss kiss kiss by the ananda project featuring heather johnson -- and wondered if there were other versions of this remix (by eric kupper). after a few hours of searching and a couple of minutes downloading (YES! you can download purchased music here through real.com! just give them an american address and they'll honor your credit card even if they were issued here!) i was able to get a couple of remixes and of this song! ganda! makes one even more frustrated kasi mas madami pang available versions over the iTunes music store. sigh...
anyway, anyone wanna share their experiences with cover songs, and the versions that made them sound better?
let us know.
=)
p.s. grab the disc. it's so worth it. (the chillout project house sessions 02 by anton ramos) although, medyo disappointing lang yung nakalakip na flyer saying "digitally mastered using intel pentium 4 & intel 915G chipset." hmph, PC. buti pa yung mga albums ng incognito palaging nakalagay "digitally mastered using pro tools." TARUSH!

Let's get back to the topic:
Speaking of Anton Ramos's compilations, Me'shell Ndegeocello's Earth( Ben Watt Lazy Dog Remix) was one of my favorite tracks.

pentel: tell me about it! my gosh! ive been looking for other remixes of that song! medyo bitin nga ako sa less than 5 mins sampler ni anton sa first compilation! being a major me'shell nDegeocello fan though, i still love the raw grounded version of the original, pero once ben watt talaga starts mixing in the dance house beats, hala.. dance to death na!
come to think of it, it's kinda weird looking at the trjectory of the sound of EBTG, from almost folk pop to trance/electronica. i don't know of any in between albums, but as far as i know, after worldwide (and ben watt's life threatening disease), medyo nag paradign shift talaga sila ng sound no? unlike swing out sister na medyo nag mature into acid jazz and funk lang from british pop.
tarush ni ben watt!

she has a killer version of "fields of gold," "over the rainbow," "autumn leaves," "bridge over troubled water," "fever," etc. :P the first time i heard "fields of gold," i was floored. wow.
recently, i re-discovered salena jones. you might want to check out "those eyes," it's available locally. she does a mean version of "i don't want to miss a thing," and "you don't bring me flowers." my friends always gush when they hear her version of the aerosmith song. as for "you don't bring me flowers," a friend of mine actually asked me to stop the disc because she couldn't take it. apparently, she found it too sad. :wound:

My current favorite is Ever After by Bonnie Bailey. Excellent track!
Talking about EBTG, I heard two remixes of Missing. The first is the standard Tod Terry one in the same album and the second a Junior Vasquez (or was it Junior Jack) version thats a bit heavier.
However, my favorite EBTG song is still Tracey in my Room. I've never heard the original but the remix sounds cool.
If you have some bandwidth to spare, check out my site below for some tunes. Will try to add some more real soon.
