Default changing directory of ripped cds in itunes

i did a search and checked the posts but couldn't find any.

the drive where my itunes directory is nearly maxed out. i still have a lot of cds to rip but i need to change the directory of the ripped mp3s to a drive with more space. how do i do this without changing my original itunes directory. there seems to be no option for this in itunes.

(4th gen ipod on windows xp)

    thanks for your help.

In itunes / preferences / advanced, you can change the destination for your ripped music. I've started ripping to an external hd since I too didn't want to max out my internal hd. itunes will manage all your music even if you're on two different drives.

    thanks. that did the trick.

i knew of that option but i wrongly concluded it was for changing the whole directory (even of the existing songs).

    cheers
