BMW and iPOD

For the BMW + iPod owners out there...

I was just curious if anyone of you has successfully integrated their ipods with their BMW stock headunit, because I am interested in buying the BMW+iPod adapter in one of the online stores I frequent. The adaptor retails for US$144.95 + shipping. It is the same adaptor in the glovebox which connects to the base port of the iPod and charges it and gives full control of the iPod via the stock BMW headunit.

Based on the reasearch I have conducted there are two types of headunits BMW sells with their cars: the Business radio, and the Professional radio.

According to some sources of mine in Prestige, the 1-series has an auxillary connection for the BMW+iPod Adapter, because it is a Professinal radio system.

Which brings me to the following questions:

Are there any 1-series owners here that have connected their iPods with their headunits?

Are there any 3-series owners here that have connected their iPods with their Business headunits? I know for a fact that all BMW 3 series units have only the Business headunits.

So are the Business headunit users doomed to having no iPod integration at all...
