Default Been waiting for iPhone here

Have been waiting for the Iphone to be launched
in Manila, as I like the guarantee and all that...

but how do I get to retain my "smart" number?

I'd rather NOT change my "smart" cell number...
but i want the most recent Iphone that's
    coming.

    Any suggestions?

Unlock it, but you can't get one in the Phil unless you sign up for a 2-year contract with Globe.(and/or) pay the full price for the prepaid kit. when you unlock it, it will void your warranty in trade for retaining your smart mobile #. (if there will be such a unlock for version 2.0)

Yep. Only way to do it. Or you can get an iPhone 3g in the black market. But it would be priced waaay up high. The easiest way is that, get a globe-iphone contract. Just use your globe iPhone as your secondary phone You get to retain your old smart and have a new globe number

I know someone from Multiply who sells iPhone 3g for 17k and it's already open line. It's still pre-order and will arrive end of July. The phone will be coming from the US.

Anyway, I can't wait to see how much Globe will charge for iPhone 3g and when it will be officially arriving here. I'm saving up for it already.

@ Mocha.Frap: Oo nga eh. It's cheap pero it's 8 GB lang naman. Diba in the States the starting price of the new iPhone 3g is around $299 or is it $199? Something like that. I don't think the seller is a scam cos she has a lot of clients and good feedbacks also.

Yes, but you can't get iPhone 3G without a line (in US), and if you can, di lang 199$ ang babayaran mo.

Globe did say that they will make the iPhone available for both prepaid and postpaid subscribers. If you don't want to avail of their plan, prepaid is the way to go. Of course, you still have to unlock it if you want to use your Smart number.

Unlocking voids the Apple warranty for the 1st Gen iphone. Revirginizing it supposedly covers up the unlocking/jailbreaking done, but it's still a big question mark in the air for this yet to be released iPhone 3G.
If E.T. had an iPhone, he'd already be home.

It's $199 but thats just because its subsidized by AT&T. So you need to get a 2 year contract with them. The same goes with the release here in the Philippines with Globe. You'd need to either sign a postpaid contract or get it with a prepaid one (rumored) I guess with the prepaid one, we would have to pay more than $199 for it. So I guess a 17k is possible. But lets wait and see what will happen
