oh no! oh no! i thought pa naman that one of these days phillippines will be a mecca of unlocked iphones (considering that these phones sell like pancakes).
that would've been another pinoypride i guess.
just thinking of what might have been under the circumstances stated above.

If I bought 5 units already online using credit card #1 last month, I can't buy in the Apple Store in the mall using the same card now? What if I use a different card now but still under my name?

someone told me that apple does not make money when the iphone is unblocked. Apple makes money on its deal with AT&T. On the usages. So if this is true, all these unblocked iphones are "pirated" as the company is actually losing money over them

same case as with the game consoles then. They supposedly lose money for every console sold, and make their profit from the games. Still, the act of modifying console in itself is not considered piracy.

why would you need more than 1 iphone? unless you're going to sell it.
i guess the idea behind the control is quality service. it would be best to buy from an Apple store so that expectations and questions can be addressed by an apple technician. thus preserving apple's reputation. i guess apple's marketing model is not just mass marketing... they make sure also that each purchase they have a direct relationship to the customer so that problems can be addressed properly as compared to buying gray units.
anyways, in the long run apple will not earn much from iphone sales, profit margins will be marginal as the product matures in the market. it will earn more from purchases at the iTunes Music store. so even if apple has a measly 5% of the market share, it can still earn because of these 'music and video' purchases --- no need for a computer!
